Hi, I’m Alexis.
I always wanted to be a mom and it happened quite young for me. I became a mother at the ages of 19, 22, and again at 41. Each time had its own challenges and its own advantages.
Over the course of motherhood, I grew and changed, transformed and rediscovered myself. There were times that I was lost. There were times that I felt peace. There were times that I felt utterly depressed and alone.
My professional journey as a counselor helped me find balance. I healed through my own education and my own counseling. I found my way to a happy, healthy self, and found a new appreciation for the life I had created and the future in front of me. I also helped other mothers do the same and I look forward to continuing to help even more moms on their path.
Who I Am, beyond motherhood
Being a mother is one piece of who I am—a very, very big piece—but there is so much more, as well. Here is a little more about who I am, beyond motherhood.
Values
My values—the guideposts to my life—are family, freedom, and learning. What this means to me:
I will always prioritize and appreciate my family, including my children, spouse, and extended family.
I will pursue options that lead to a sense of freedom, including time and financial freedom.
I will take every opportunity to learn (and teach) new things, especially related to my interests of motherhood, mental wellness, and travel.
Interests
I am interested in many things. Parenting and motherhood is one of them. Beyond motherhood, though, I am also a big baseball fan, a fan of reading and writing, and a sometimes-runner. I also enjoy animals, and we have a cat and dog.
Mental wellness is my profession, but it’s also a big passion of mine. I strongly believe that if they taught mental wellness skills in schools, everyone (including society as a whole) would be a LOT better off. Until then, I’ll spread my knowledge and hope that it reaches the people who need it most—be that moms, teenagers, or anyone else.
I like learning new things, especially related to my interests noted above. Last, but certainly not least, I absolutely love traveling. I am a sun seeker and am often daydreaming of trips that may or may not ever happen.
